Tyler the creator approached this CD/album cover with different and specific ideas in mind, however, he trusted the designer of the cover Eric White enough to let him create a masterpiece for him. (Johnson, 2018)
Eric White
Eric White paintings are referenced from 20th-century film, music and pop culture backed by consummate draftsmanship and painterly finesse to subvert and recode the dominant narratives of contemporary society. His approach to figuration is both beautiful and disturbing. Whether expressed blatantly or in a subtler manner, his work attempts to tap into those realities and dimensions that exist beyond the fringe of our perception. (GRIMM, 2017)

The reason why I chose this style and technique is that it reflects ways in which sunflowers are used and portrayed in the modern day. Sunflowers are mostly known and portrayed as one of the flowers the carry more to its meaning and can be used for a variety of things. The way in which sunflowers are used in the 2000 years sunflowers still carry their happy meaning. The album cover that I designed myself has the colours that represent happiness, I used simplicity along with an illustrated version of a girl holding a sunflower that is covering her face and letting the sunflower be the element that the viewer would see first. I chose an illustration for my CD cover because it is what I like which I think is the best art to express one feeling towards something because each line means something.

Biography: Vincent Van Gogh was a post-impressionist painter, who made work noticeable from its beauty, emotion, and colour and most importantly the use of brushstrokes, these characteristics influenced the art of 20th century. He expressed himself through his art, he suffered from mental illness and struggled throughout his life making him virtually unknown. He completed more than 2 100 works, consisting of 860 oil paintings and more than 1 300 watercolours, drawings and sketches. (O'Brien, 2017)
Are sunflowers important for design/art?
Not only do sunflowers produce more than what we anticipate, however for design sunflowers are as important as any other flower and are important for any sort of design. Sunflowers were cherished by Van Gogh and he used them in a way that would be expressive. Sunflowers were important to Van Gogh. Van Gogh used sunflowers to express how he feels and he conveyed a story using the technique in which he used to paint his sunflowers. Van Gogh used sunflowers as a symbol of Happiness, he wanted to convey this in his work because he wanted to express his emotions on a surface that most people would understand, which is art. Most people understand something when it is a visual, therefore for using sunflowers to express an abstract feeling, using the cleverest way which is art.
What does the Fibonacci code have to do with design?
What is the Fibonacci code?
A series of numbers with the pattern of each number being the sum of the previous two. Therefore, beginning at zero then the sequence will follow.
0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144 - the sequence can go on indefinitely.
How does this relate to design?
It might seem that the Fibonacci sequence has everything to do with mathematics and nothing to do with design, however, the sequence actually relates closely to design in a few ways. The sequence is found to be closely related to the Golden Ratio. The Golden Ratio is a design concept that is to create visually appealing proportions in art, architecture, design and even the human body. The seemingly random patterns of the sequence also are considered to have a strong aesthetic value to humans. There is a key element that the Fibonacci sequence helps to address, and this sequence is mostly ignored in design despite knowing the sequence or not. While key elements in design such as colour palettes, typeface choice, and photography, the design are actually the management and division of space. Spacing and the use and management of space holds a design together. Precise and effective space management is able to make the difference between average design and an amazing one. Every design requires a good decision on space, everything from the width and height of various sections. Using the Fibonacci sequence and consider it as a possible section, margin and font sizing, it should be able to structure the entire design. The sequence 8, 13, 21, 34, 55 is the perfect way to decide margins, line heights and font sizes. The second sequence 144, 233, 377, 610, 987 can easily decide column widths and other section dimensions. The sequence creates a rhythm and visual harmony in addition to the balanced and aesthetically pleasing proportions. (Johnson, 2010)
Can sunflowers be art?
As the sunflower known as a happy flower, it resembles the sun which is associated with warm, hope and happiness.
· In Christianity, the sunflower is a sign of God’s love for his people.
· In Eastern cultures, the sunflower represents good health, joy, long life, and luck. It is regarded as an auspicious symbol.
· The Native American culture, the flower embodies bounty and harvest, it is a symbol of energy and fertility.
· In China, the yellow colour signifies happiness, vitality and intelligence.
· In Dutch culture, the sunflower is considered as a symbol of loyalty and devotion.
In the modern tattoo art, the sunflower image expresses the following meaning:
· Warmth
· Gratitude
· Religion
· Faithfulness
· Longevity
· Intelligence
· Eternal memory
· Happiness
· Charm
· Vitality
· Grace
· Femininity
The size plays a certain a role in symbolism, the larger sunflowers usually indicate fidelity, while small patterns of worship. The pair tattoos of two sunflowers is a protective talisman for two people in love. (Donald, 2017)

Like Van Gogh our art expresses how we feel and who we are,
he uses the brushstrokes in his paintings and I use my colours and textures to
differentiate myself from other designers. I illustrate in ways in which I express
who I am, and I usually use the sunflower colour scheme to show that, I stick
to the idea that most people have about sunflowers, which is open space,
leaves, yellow palettes, being unconventional, being soulful and being an explorer
(being outdoors), I stick to that concept because it is who I am and I expree
that in all my illustrations.
